The Capital Area Food Bank was founded in 1980 on Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, and is the largest, nonprofit hunger and nutrition education resource in the Washington Metropolitan area. It annually distributes nearly 30 million pounds of food to more than 478,000 people through its invaluable network of partner agencies.
